The Redondo Beach Dog Park
When your dog needs room to run and play, the options in South Bay are quite limited. So head over to the Redondo Beach Dog Park to give your pooch some much-needed exercise and social time.
Located at the Northern end of Dominquez Park off Flagler Lane and 190th Street, the park is the only off-leash dog area in Redondo Beach. With three acres of fenced-in space, the biggest attribute of the park is plenty of room to run and run. Bigger dogs will enjoy that there is probably 100 yards or so build up speed and get their energy out. While the dog park is unfortunately mostly sand with only a few grassy areas, there are several benches to sit down and take a break as well as drinking fountains for both dogs and owners.
As with most community dog parks, there is also a separate fenced-in area for smaller dogs to enjoy the company of their similar breeds without drawing the attention of the bigger dogs.
The park has pretty standard rules for both dogs and owners, and its website includes some tips that owners should read on how to handle their dogs.
The Redondo Beach Dog Park is open from dawn until dusk every day except Wednesday, when it is closed until 12 noon for maintenance. Open since 1992, the park is operated by Friends of the Redondo Beach Dog Park, Inc., a non-profit funded solely by the donations of its patrons.
