At our Los Angeles area and Las Vegas area DBT center, we offer a comprehensive DBT program. This entails three key components for clients. These are individual psychotherapy sessions, DBT skills groups, and phone coaching.

Individual Psychotherapy Sessions and Phone Coaching

Throughout your time in our DBT program, you will have one main therapist. You will meet with them weekly in individual sessions. Their purpose is to provide a space where you can come as you are and speak freely about what has been weighing you down. They genuinely want to help. And that means providing an open, comfortable environment for you to express your deepest worries and fears. During these weekly sessions, your therapist will work with you to analyze the thoughts and beliefs that cause you to feel such intense emotions and reactions to particular situations.

The secondary aspect of working with a DBT therapist is phone coaching. This is one of the most essential pieces of DBT because it means you can receive support even when you’re not in a therapy session. When feelings become unmanageable and your mind turns to thoughts of suicide, you can call your therapist for immediate support. And this is where DBT skills come in.

DBT Skills Group

A unique part of DBT is its focus on learning and implementing skills. This component of DBT is done in a group format, which means you have the chance to connect with other people experiencing similar struggles and talk through how to really use these tools in daily life. The four core concepts you will learn about in skills groups are mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. All the elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy are connected. In your work with an individual therapist, you will gain insight into your current internal and external tendencies.
